Where Is the Best Place to Buy PoE Currency?

Path of Exile Currency Guide

In Path of Exile there is no gold, but there are other currency items. These items are used to buy, sell and trade items in the game. They are called PoE Currency and they play a key role in the game's unique trading system. The items listed below are approximate ratios, as the exact values will vary depending on league and content updates.

Chaos Orb

It’s one of the most valuable currency items in Path of Exile. You can get them by selling a full set of Rare gear to vendors. They also have a small chance to drop from monsters or in containers and strongboxes. They can also be used to purchase certain items from vendors. They can also be used to reroll the implicit modifiers of a piece of gear. This is not recommended, however, as it has unpredictable results and is generally considered a waste of money. These can be bought from other players on Odealo or exchanged for a Scroll of Wisdom or Portal Scroll. They can also be used to upgrade a Flask to 20% quality, which increases its duration or amount of life/mana recovered when used.

Exalted Orb

The Exalted Orb is a key currency in Path of Exile. It is used to reroll modifiers on rare equipment and can be extremely useful in end-game builds. It is also used to upgrade currency items into higher-tier versions.

You can find them by killing monsters, opening boxes, or completing certain quests. The higher the level of the creature or chest, the greater the chance of an Exalted Orb dropping. Certain Divination Cards can also drop them. These include the Abandoned Wealth dropped in Arsenal and vault maps, and the Harvest Accumulator placed in a level 1 or 2 map.

In addition, you can trade items and currency for them with other players. This is one of the main features that distinguishes Path of Exile from other ARPGs and gives the game a strong player-driven economy.

Regal Orb

A currency item that upgrades a magic item to a rare item while retaining its affixes. It also adds one more random affix.

This item drops from slain monsters, chests and destructible containers and is found in Arcanist’s Strongboxes. It is the primary trade currency early in a league and it’s commonly used to upgrade gear before selling it to vendor.

A player can use Scroll of Wisdom to identify an unidentified dropped item. This is usually done on any items above magic rarity before selling them to a vendor or using Portal Scroll. It can also be used in a few high end manual crafting recipes for removing some affixes from crafted items. It is not recommended to use it on items that can be obtained from normal drops.

Mirror of Kalandra

The most valuable currency item in Path of Exile, a Mirror of Kalandra creates a mirrored copy of an equipable non-unique item. It is also one of the rarest items in the game, making it an extremely valuable commodity.

The item can be used on any kind of item, including a unique, although it cannot degrade a unique. This is because a unique can only be degraded using a Vaal Orb, which turns it into a corrupted rare item. This means that players must farm a very high number of rares to be able to make use of this currency item. The best way to do this is by farming Atlas Tree and Device improvements, as these offer many League Mechanics that can be used to improve the quality of rare equipment.

Vaal Implicits

Vaal Orbs are the "$100 bills" of path of exile, used for high value trades with other players. They corrupt an item, adding an implicit effect that may or may not be desirable, as well as locking further modification of the item by other currency (such as Chaos orbs).

Corrupting a gear piece can change socket colors to white, reforge it into a rare with six linked sockets, turn an existing rare gem into a Vaal gem, or add a special set of unique properties obtainable only through the use of this orb (though this is extremely expensive and only worth doing on very valuable items). Vaal Orbs can also corrupt a strongbox, end game Atlas maps or the special Vaal Implicit modifiers found in some rare skill gems.
